THE ITALIAN CURRICULUM
At St James, the Italian program provides great opportunities for students to explore a wide range of Italian traditions and customs, and also engagement in language learning and cultural awareness. Students develop new ways of seeing and being in the world, and to understand more about themselves through deepened connections with the Italian language and culture. Students also participate in a whole school Italian cultural day once a year.
Students will be provided with the opportunity to:
- Understand the relationship between language, culture and learning,
- Develop Italian language skills for communicative purposes,
- Understanding language as a system that includes sound, writing and grammar,
- Interact orally and in writing to exchange ideas, opinions and thoughts,
- Develop an awareness of and respect for cultural diversity within the community.
